Henlo Fren!

My name is Kaiju Bear, and I'm a half Alaskan Malamute, half Akita rescue pup. My pawrents call that mix a "Kitamoo" and it means I am pretty much the best of both breeds!  I have the energy, stamina, and goofiness of a Malamute combined with the loyalty, alertness, and protectiveness of an Akita. And of course the strength and stubbornness that is common to both!

My given name "Kaiju" is a Japanese word that roughly translates to "Monster" or "Strange Beast" in English - it fits me perfectly! My litter name "Bear" became my middle  name and it fits me pretty perfectly as well.  I'm a lovable little zoomie monster and a total snuggle bear!

There is nothing I love more than a cold, snowy adventure in the mountains. I call the Pacific Northwest home but have been known to travel far and wide in search of fresh snow! I unfortunately have elbow dysplasia but employ a number of interventions that keep my joints healthy so that I can keep the adventures going strong all winter long!

I was adopted through WAMAL in January 2020 by a family that needed me more than they ever could have known. They devote themselves to giving me my best life, and in return I fill their lives with joy and laughter!  I'd say that's a pretty fair trade!

Favorite spot to get rubs and scritches...but only from favorite people. Being presented with the bummy to rub is considered a great honor.

BUMMY

Velvety-soft audio filters capable of hearing a treat pouch being opened from a mile away. Active noise cancellation features filter out annoying background noise like pawrents' commands. Normally carried down and relaxed, but stand upright when engaged in mischeif and can disappear completely in baby seal mode.

EARSIES

Contains teefs and a licker. Creates bleps, produces borks and awoos, and delivers kisses. Also snaccs go in here.

MOUF

Extremely boopable. Can detect frens, family, and food  from great distance and cannot be fooled. Conveys greetings when pushed into your bum or crotch areas.

SNOOT

Solid muscle and prone to frequent but unpredictable zoomies.

LEGGIES

Frequently aired out in upside-down mode. Can be licked in public to embarass pawrents.

NAUGHTY BITS

Squishable, smooshable, densely furred area that can be kneaded for stress relief.

DEWLAP

Round, expressive, adorable orbs capable of manipulating humans into basically anything

EYES

Broad, flat, softly furred surface that is perfect for petting and smooching. Constantly thinking up new forms of mischief.

NOGGIN

TAIL PLUME

Magnificent floofage usually carried in a tight curl, but can be unfurled for use as a rudder during zoomies.

Contain toesies which contain toebeans, all of which are adorable. Used for excavating large amounts of snow or sand. Also suitable for whaccing pawrents when attention is required, or smaccing frens during vigourous play.

PAWSIES

Rub it.

BELLY

A very special marking that looks like a comma when fully visible. Visual symbol of a continuation of love and connection with a special dog.

The Kaiju Bear Blog

I love Instagram but there are some topics and adventures that I can't really cover in a simple post/reel caption! So I'll be using this page to post the occasional blog entry with more detailed writeups about my adventures and lifestyle, my elbow dysplasia journey, product reviews, and overall doggo thoughts on life! Is there anything in particular you'd be interested in seeing in my blog? If so, send me your suggestions below!

What topic(s) would you like me to blog about?

I may have found my perfect furever family, but sadly there are still soooo many wonderful dogs like me desperately looking for homes and foster homes. If you are located in the Pacific Northwest, and have the capacity and dog-savviness to foster or adopt a Malamute please consider applying with WAMAL Rescue  - you would be saving a life, and getting a new best fren in the process!

If you aren't in the PNW or can't foster or adopt right now, donations are always gratefully accepted and are used entirely towards the care of the dogs. WAMAL is a 501c3 nonprofit rescue. Check out the website for all the ways you can help!
